Penguin Computing and InMon Corporation Develop Partnership to Deliver Internet Traffic Management Solutions

Delivering a total hardware/software solution for traffic management

San Francisco, Calif. - May 7, 2001 - Penguin Computing, a San Francisco, Calif.-based provider of Internet infrastructure solutions and InMon Corporation, a leader in traffic management solutions for high-speed networks, today announced a strategic partnership to deliver a robust and reliable platform for the InMon sFlow Probe.

The sFlow Probe, running on the Penguin Computing Relion 100, provides the high reliability required for continuous network monitoring and a compact and convenient 1U rackmount chassis. Coupled with Penguin Computing's comprehensive hardware support, this solution is ideal for network traffic monitoring in an Internet data center environment.

"With this partnership, Penguin Computing and InMon now deliver a total hardware/software solution for traffic management," said Scott Weinbrandt, vice president of sales and marketing at Penguin Computing. "Our extensive back-end customization capabilities allow us to partner with ISVs such as InMon to custom tailor complete server solutions. We have moved beyond the traditional box build model known as build to order. By allowing Penguin Computing to manage the deployment and delivery of sFlow Probes, InMon is free to concentrate on new products and services."

InMon's sampling technology is unique in its ability to provide cost effective, 'always-on' monitoring and management of tens of thousands of ports at Gigabit speeds. InMon's monitoring technology, and comprehensive network traffic analysis products provide network managers with the ability to maximize the performance of their high-speed networks, protecting against security threats, allocate costs based on usage, and deploy new services.

"We are pleased to be working with Penguin Computing," said Peter Phaal, President of InMon Corp. "By providing the information needed to optimize network performance for today's mission-critical, value-added applications and services, Penguin Computing and InMon will deliver a unique and cost effective monitoring system allowing network operators to deliver the performance and differentiated services demanded by today's users."

The InMon sFlow Probe is the industry's first media speed Gigabit network probe that generates Cisco NetFlow statistics. It provides network managers with the information they need to ensure their networks deliver fast and reliable network services. It gives accurate, real-time view of traffic across the network that is used for traffic accounting/billing, congestion management and the detection and control of denial or service attacks.

The Relion 100E platform is designed for customers seeking the computing power of Intel Pentium III processors and the advantages of a low cost, high capacity IDE system. It makes an ideal web server for Web infrastructure customers enabling them to run applications using the server's exceptional performance to process large amounts of web traffic in a compact 1U form factor.
