How do I navigate the host hierarchy?

The Filter bar at the top of the screen provides a way to navigate through the network hierarchy (see File>Configure to see how to group network devices). At the top level, a list of Zones is shown, once you have selected a zone, the view will drill down to only show information from the selected zone, and a list of Groups will appear. Select a group and the view will drill down to only show the information from the selected group and a list of Agents will appear. Finally if you select an agent, the lists Hosts being monitored by the agent will be displayed. Click on the links at any level in the path and you will move back up the tree to that level.

Click on the Explore button to see long term trends (see Sentinel:Report>Explore). If a single agent has been selected an Agent Details button will appear. Click on the button to see detailed information about the agent (see Sentinel:Search>Agent/Interface). Finally, if a single host has been selected a Host Details button will applear. Click on the button to see detailed information about the host (see Sentinel:Search>Host).

How can I organize the data in the table?

The following options in the Filter are used to select and sort the entries in the table:

Note: Clicking on the Edit button displays a form that allows you to specify which columns should be displayed in the table for the selected Show setting. Selecting None for a column will remove it.

What do the status bars show?

When the Show setting is set to Status, the status bars are computed based on the threshold that have been set for the particular statistic. Green indicates that there have been no threshold violations within the threshold interval (the height of the bar indicates how close the current value is to the threshold - in this case the bar is half way to the tick marks indicating 50% of threshold). Yellow indicates that there has been at least one threshold crossing, but that the duration of the violation isn't yet sufficient to generate an event (the height of the bar above the tick marks indicates how close the status is to generating an event - in this case the bar is half way between the tick marks and the maximum value indicating that twice the number of threshold violations is needed before an event will be generated). Finally red indicates that threshold crossings have met the frequency and duration criteria for generating an event (the height of the bar indicates how close the status is to clearing the event - in this case the bar is half way between the maximum value indicating that half the number of intervals needed to clear the event have occurred, proving that the value remains below the threshold.) See File>Configure to see how to set thresholds.

When the Show setting is set to one of the counter blocks, each bar represents the value of a particular metric for a specific host.
