Tim (and all),
If you want to clean out unused rpms then the most reliable approach
would be to archive your data directory to another host and then install
a completely fresh system from the RedHat 8.0 CDs (with Red Hat Network
enabled so you can easily install patches). After you install traffic
server you can then restore the data directory to
/usr/local/inmon/server/data (which might be linked to /home/inmon/data
on your system at the moment).
If you prefer to just clean up what is there, then you can certainly
remove the Blackdown Java, but I don't know for sure about the XFree86
packages. There may be dependencies between those and other packages
installed on your system. "rpm -e <package>" should warn you about
dependencies, but I suggest you proceed with caution.
Another thing you can do is to remove the Xvfb line from /etc/inittab
and then run "/sbin/telinit q" so that init(1) will kill the Xvfb
process and not run it again. It is no longer used.
regards,
neil
